For me, starting with 15 minutes pranayama (breathing techniques) really helps.  

There&#039;s also many kinds of meditations; finding a technique that you like is part of the learning process.

A long time ago in Nepal I learned from Vikash, a very funny guru with a very funny laugh, a meditation technique using a candle.  It works best at night when it&#039;s dark and here&#039;s what you do: 
-light a candle, sit cross leg in front of it and stare at the tip of the flame.  

Stay awake! And just focus on the tip of the flame.  Whenever thoughts arise come back to the flame...

I found this technique very helpful.</description>
